Mandatory credits
Mastering Program on Parasite Biology of Instituto Oswaldo Cruz (IOC/Fiocruz) aims to provide students a diverse background in the field of parasitology. The minimum number of 20 credits is required for concluding the master course, being mandatory to attend the disciplines of Parasitology I (subdivided into Bacteriology, Mycology and Virology), Parasitology II (subdivided into Protozoology, Helminthology, Entomology and Malacology), Biosafety (in which aware students in good practices in research labs are one of the milestones), “Centro de Estudos” (a weekly scientific event organized by the IOC in order to contribute to a multidisciplinary approach and for an interaction of students with the scientific community of the institution), and Students Seminar (after 12 months of enrollment, i.e., when 50% of the MSc is complete, students present their preliminary results for a scientific committee).
Each discipline will have a value expressed in credits and each credit corresponds to at least twenty (20) hours of theoretical activities and / or practices. For the master's level, it is required a minimum of twenty (20) credits obtained in courses taken, which together to eighty (80) for the MSc presentation, counting a total of at least one hundred (100) credits.
